It took us less than ten years to hit the second trillion, and we are on track to hit the third trillion within 5 years. At our current pace, we could easily eclipse $30 trillion by the year 2020. It doesn't take a mathematical genius to figure out what that would do to our families and our nation's economy.

The plain fact is that America is the strongest, most affluent country in the world, yet with our lack of family savings coupled with our over indulgence in debt, we are setting ourselves up for a huge fall. Our economic rainy days are coming, and we have nothing saved to fight them off. Americans retiring today are already pushing the limits of poverty and debt will push them over the edge.
